The existing lighting technology at the University of Calgary required continual maintenance and due to the vast pathway and roadway systems, as well as the number of parking lots throughout the University, safety, security, and vandalism were significant ongoing concerns. LED technology significantly reduced maintenance and, in most areas, the new LED was brighter than the existing site lighting, providing a safer environment on campus.
